Makeup Inspiration: Classic Smokey Eye

clare lozano
The bride looking for a sultry, sexy, and mysterious look should opt for the classic smokey eye! Charlize Theron shows how to do this perfectly with all emphasis on her eyes and barely there makeup everywhere else.

Start with a nice even skin tone using either mineral foundation or airbrushed foundation. Apply a skin toned blush right below the apples of your cheeks. You are going for a more natural sculpted look instead of pink and cherry. Try NARS blush in Nico or Sex Appeal. The classic smokey eye is a combination of smokey greys and dusty blacks. Try MAC's Carbon eyeshadow. The key to the smokey eye is to BLEND BLEND BLEND! Use soft strokes to fill in your lid starting at the lash line, and stroke upward towards the crease. Since this is a classic smokey eye, do not extend too drastically past the outer corner of your eye. The look is still clean and crisp! Line eyes using a waterproof gel liner like Bobbi Brown's version. Also line the inner rim of your eye. This might be different then what you are used to but trust me, the black rimmed inner rim will make this look complete!

Finish your look with a dusting of finishing powder and a light peach lipstick to complement the natural blush. Keep both the blush and lipstick in the same color family to complete the monochromatic face; the perfect canvas for the smokey eye!

Sweetest sentiment I've seen in a long time....

clare lozanoFor all of you Philly girls! My friend recently told me he was going to tour these love letter murals with his girlfriend in Philly this weekend. They are murals done all over the city on rooftops and buildings by artist Steve Powers. The art is essentially words of love from a guy to his girl. Such beautiful sentiments and unique pieces of art. I especially love the thought, "If you were here, I'd be home now". Sweetness....

If I lived in Philly and had to get some engagement photos done, I would without a doubt plan a picture or two near this...just a thought!

Makeup Inspiration: Bronze Blinkers

clare lozano
J'dore the milky complexion and ocean blue peepers of Mrs. Russell Brand. Isn't she lovely? Duplicate her look here for your wedding by evening out your complexion with the use of some matte airbrushing. Use finishing powder to stop shine and set the look. Apply a dollop of peachy pink blush like NARS Orgasm (the BEST!). Use a lighter bronze/gold shade of eyeshadow (try MAC's Amber Lights) all over your eyelid and sweep underneath to bring out your baby blue's. Apply the longest length lashes you can stand with extra coats of MAC's SplashProof mascara! Finish lips with a sweep of pure pink gloss like MAC's Partial to Pink Cremesheen gloss.

Makeup Inspiration: Romantic Redhead

clare lozano
As a makeup artist, it really helps when clients show me photos of makeup looks that they wish to emulate on their wedding day. This helps me correctly see their vision and discuss their different options. However, some girls don't know where to look for that inspiration so I will help by providing possible wedding day makeup looks that you can reference when you see me!

First up, the beautiful Emma Stone! I've been obsessed with going red lately and her makeup look proves that redheads can wear bold lips! This look is a bit retro with the red lips and winged liner. I would start by airbrushing a creamy and even matte foudation for a immaculate complexion. Barely there pink blush like NARS Mata Hari on the apples of the cheeks. Bronze shadow and inner rim liner topped off with liquid black winged liner on top. To top it all off, a clean, gloss free application of orange toned red liner and lipstick. Try Revlon's lipstick in Flame for the same color!

Diamon Debate - Natalie Portman's Ring!

clare lozano
Recently engaged and recently proclaimed 'bun in the oven' actress, Natalie Portman, has been flashing her dainty diamond in recent pictures. The stone is round and surrounded by pave diamonds on a pave encrusted band. The ring looks like a bowl of diamonds but I love it! The dress on the other hand makes Natalie look like a nun trying to glam it up for a girl's night out. What do you think or her ring?

Jane's Picks: Sex Appeal Blush by NARS

clare lozano
What is the numero uno blush line in the whole entire world? NARS!! NARS!! NARS!!

I am obsessed with NARS blush. The line never disappoints me and despite the blush lines higher price tag, trust me when I tell you that it is WORTH it! You will not hit pan on this blush for a good long while and the blush output is strong, giving you over 8 hours of pure color. I won't name names but some blush lines are horrible, changing color midday and wearing off before your lunch time salad. Stick with NARS and you will keep your radiant glow throughout the day!

NARS recently released Sex Appeal blush which is a must for your collection. It is absent of the glitter/shimmer which Francois Nars seems to love in his blush. I have an issue with glitter/shimmer, i.e. I love Orgasm despite it's shimmer but it just never seems completely natural to me. Sex Appeal on the other hand is Orgasm's less flashy cousin. It's more subtle and subdued and a whole heck of a lot more natural looking.

I think this would not have the right affect on darker skin tones but on medium to fair skin tones this looks amazing. The color payoff is soft but totes worth it! I plan on bringing this with me on my island vacation!

Buy NARS Sex Appeal Blush at Sephora!

Jane Picks: Smith's Menthol and Eucalyptus Balm!

clare lozano
I love all things minty especially during the holiday season and this balm is a must since it comes from my favorite, Smith's Rosebud Perfume Company. Yes you loved their original Rosebud Salve and my personal beauty arsenal go-to, Smith's Strawberry lip balm, now you can use the cooling and refreshing combo of Eucalyptus and Mint on your pucker! The combination of mint and eucalyptus will soothe your chapped lips as well as minor skin irritations from that holiday cold or allergies!

I saw this at Urban Outfitters recently but this product was one of the first ones created for the Rosebud Perfume Company. Mmmm mmmmm Minty!
