Jane's Picks: Lovely Fascinators
I've seen a few brides recently sporting unique headpieces and floral fascinators for their wedding. Did Carrie's peacock headwear for her wedding inspire millions of trendy brides? I think they are especially lovely when the hair is pulled up in a soft and undone kind of way. Remember to create a flawless complexion when wearing these types of headpieces since it brings attention to your face. Here are some of my favorites. Check out Etsy for a great selection!

Jane's Picks - Highlighters
Let's talk highlighters ladies! No, not those blinding neon sticks of pink, yellow, and acid orange that I overused on all of my textbooks in college. I'm talking one of my favorite must haves in my beauty arsenal! The highlighting creme is underated and most women have no idea what to do with it. Highlighting creme makes for a more dynamic and more fresh face. It makes a bride seem like she's glowing from within! Highlighters give the illusion of a healthy glow and makes the planes of blah skin more alive. On my clients, I use highlighting creme on a few keys places: on the inner corners of the eyes, the bow of the upper lip, brow bone, cheekbones, and the bridge of a nose. I wouldn't suggest using highlighter EVERYWHERE on your face. Normally just a stroke on the cheekbones will do wonders for your look. Pro tip: Stay away from glitter formulations! Unless you are a showgirl in Vegas or a teen at prom, skip the chunky glitter and stick with sheerer, shimmery cremes.
Here are my top picks for best overall highlighter!
NARS The Multiple in Copacabana - This all purpose stick is a pearly, shimmery champage that comes in stick form. Apply it straight from the tube and onto cheekbones and use your fingers to blend it well. The drier formulation really helps with the staying power but the price is $38 which is a little steep!
Benefit Highbeam - Has a nail polish brush for an applicator but once you get past that, this creamy highlighter imparts a gorgeous pinky sheen on the skin. Dab a few dots along your cheekbones and blend well. I love how dewy fresh it makes the skin look and runs around $24. Benefit also has sister highlighters like Moonbeam that has a pinkish gold duochrome effect.
MAC Pearl Creme Color Base - My absolute favorite! Costs $18 and comes in an easy flip top pot. Simply apply to the skin with your fingers and blend. This shimmery highlighter has a great formulation and is a breeze to apply. I love to use this with a liquid foundation for a an amazingly glowing bridal look!

Frock Finding: How Does Your Garden Grow?
Ahhh, Spring is upon us ladies! Spring means wedding season, love, picnics in the park, sunny days, and the abundance of flowers! On that note, one of the biggest trends in bridal fashion is floral texturing. Whether it is an oversized organza rose at the hip, petite silk petals cheerily covering a bodice, or bouquet-like ball gowns, floral accents on your frock is a great way to add a fresh and feminine spring feel to your look!

Trial - Amy
It was so nice to meet Amy and her sister today at my condo for her trial! We went with warmer weather proof makeup. We went with a slate smokey eye and shorter falsh lashes to bring out her eyes!

Trial - Lia
Met with Lia today and we went with a stronger makeup look to complement her dark hair and eyes. NARS Sin blush was swept across her cheeks and a strong liner and lashes brought out her eyes. A bold berry lip with "O" lipstick balanced out the look!

Trial - Danielle
Meet Danielle! Perfect skin and beautiful eyes! We went with a soft, smokey eye of a blended grey and plum. I added a bright and shimmery pink to the inner corners of her eyes and false lashes for that added impact. NARS Mata Hari blush accented her perfect skin. Gorgeous!

Love this Look: Juicy Hipster
How cute is this photo! I came across this photo while surfing a great blog, Sterling Style. There are so many things I love about this wedding look: the cage veil, the bright flowers, and the necatarine accents. Orange is one of those off-beat colors that tends to be overlooked but looks amazing combined with pinks and fuschias. So quirky and fresh! Do you have any favorite wedding looks from surfing the web? Share!

Jane's Picks: Wedding Day Scent!
If you are looking (smelling) everywhere for your wedding day scent, look no further! I have found the perfect one in Marc Jacobs Biscotti for the 2010 Splash Collection. I have a really hard time of finding a perfume that doesn't give me a headache (former top favorites have included Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue and Ralph Lauren Blue). I was determined to find an everyday perfume for the upcoming warmer months after I found myself using the last bit of a old perfume bottle the other day....ENOUGH!
So off to trusty Sephora! I started from the right hand side of the fragrance wall and after spraying a dozen or so scents, I saw these huge Marc Jacobs bottles at the very top of the wall. The bottles are huge (300ml). I could barely hold it without feeling I would drop it. Heaven! I sprayed it all over to give it a test run. I'm wearing it now and I can only describe it as a warm and refreshing aroma with a touch of vanilla. I do NOT smell like a bakery! It is not too sticky sweet and it has more of a clean and fresh smell to it.
The main notes are freesia, bergamont, orange blossom, pistachio blossom, and vanilla. Only downside, like I said, is that the bottle is IMMENSE. For travel purposes, you will have to buy a small atomizer and use a dropper to fill it. This is what I'm going to do and keep it tucked in my makeup bag. Also, it is Limited Edition. Eeeek! How long will an up-opened bottle of perfume keep? Can I store it in the freezer? I'm not sure but I will find out and buy another bottle before it runs out.
The other two Splashes in the collection are Pomengranate and Apple. I really liked both of these too. Neither was overly "fruity" as their names suggest and would be perfect for a summer wedding. But for a rich, warm, and pleasant smelling scent, give Biscotti a whirl!
